Value Hospitality Group to manage Parkcity Hotel

BINTULU: Hotel management specialist, Value Hospitality Group has secured an extension of its contract to manage the four-star Parkcity Everly Hotel Bintulu for a period of 15 years. The renewal follows Value Hospitality’s successful management of the hotel-owned by Kemena Resort- a subsidiary of Samling Group. The initial contract that spanned 10 years, ended in October last year. “The renewal of our contract with Parkcity Everly Hotel Bintulu is testament that our strategies have produced the desired results for our client. We are pleased with the decision to renew our contract and look forward to a long-lasting and mutually rewarding relationship with clients,” said Value Hospitality Group General Manager Dennis Tan.

Tan described the decision to award the contract to Value Hospitality Group again was based on its proven track record in the industry and in particular, the Group’s success in managing Parkcity Everly Hotel Bintulu and turning around Parkcity Everly Hotel Miri.

Tan cited the capability of the Group to managing the hotel with a staff ratio of 0.60 staff per room basis were one of the major contributing factors to achieve high gross operating profits over the years. “We have also implemented cost saving systems while increasing sales through specific marketing strategies,” added Tan.

Parkcity Everly Hotel Bintulu was first opened in June 1998 of which Value Hospitality was also involved in the design of the four star hotel. It is well positioned to meet the needs of both business and leisure travelers due to its ideal location and situation within close proximity to the hub of business activities, financial institutions and entertainment outlets in the booming industrial town.

Tan pointed out under the Group’s management, Parkcity Everly Hotel Bintulu was awarded Tourism Malaysia Award in 2004 for Excellence in Hotel Services (Four-Star City Hotel Category). The award recognises hotels which offer quality and excellent services to their guests and the judging criteria includes all areas of hotel operations such as overall efficiency, courtesy, ambience, value-for-money, reservations, reception and guest relations, telephone operations, bell services, laundry services, housekeeping, security, food and beverages, interior decorations, staff uniforms, cleanliness and maintenance. The hotel consists of 225 rooms, conference and banquet hall facilities to accommodate 450 people, a dedicated business centre, gym, swimming pool, laundry and dry cleaning services, 24-hour room service, baby sitting services, Internet access and a children’s playground.

On the other note, Tan acknowledged the global economic downturn did have some impact on Malaysia tourism industry as number of tourists from overseas would decrease by certain percentage. “However, the prospects for local tourism industry are promising despite the current economic slowdown as more Malaysians opt to travel to local destinations instead of abroad for holidays,” said Tan.

“In addition, our Malaysian government has been instrumental in promoting the various tourist attractions in Malaysia to both Malaysians and foreigners and we expect a steady influx of guests at our hotels. We are targeting to achieve an average occupancy rate of 75 percent for our hotels in 2009,” continued Tan. Tan stressed the Group’s aim was moving forward to ensure the hotel guests continue to derive a high level of satisfaction from their stay at the hotels managed by the Group. “We will continue to place emphasis on providing value-for-money service to attract new guests and encourage repeat business, provide customized services that reflect the needs of guests in each locality and ensure that our staff are well-trained to meet this needs,” said Tan.

The Value Hospitality Group, a privately owned company formed in 1990, currently manages seven hotels and resorts around Malaysia, namely, four-star Everly and Beverly Hotel (Parkcity Everly Hotel Miri, Parkcity Everly Hotel Bintulu, Everly Resort Malacca and Beverly Hotel Kota Kinabalu in Sabah), the three-star Prescott Hotels (Prescott Hotel Klang, Prescott Metro Inn Kajang and Prescott Inn Medan Tuanku, Kuala Lumpur).
